Murchison Falls National Park lies at the northern end of the Albertine Rift Valley. The park is encircled with 3,840 square Kilometers in size. It was first gazetted as a Game reserve in 1926 and its Uganda ‘s largest and oldest conservation area. The northern part of the park is graced with savanna and borassus palms, acacia tress and riverine woodlands while the south is blessed with woodland and forest patches. Murchison’s falls hosts 76 species of mammals and 451 bird species.
What makes this park so special is its splendor Murchison falls and the peaceful waters of Nile River with relaxing hippos and sun bathing crocodiles on the sandbanks, coupled with other species of game coming down to drink and bathe in the Nile waters.

Start off your journey as early as 7.30am after Breakfast with your driver /guide, head off to the Kampala- Masindi road. Take delight in the fascinating scenery along the way, the Karuma falls, and the road side sellers at various pointsincluding the town of Masindi with the oldest hotel in Uganda. Turn off to the park road and after about an hour, you will cross the Historical Nile on a ferry which was discovered by Samuel Baker an English explorer. You will have your lunch on arrival at the Paraa Safari Lodge, after checking in the lodge. Relax in the wilderness with a cool ambience, It’s such a good setting were you
will relax in the jungle near the lodge. Take a break by swimming in the pool, or simply sit on your balcony, the rooms are luxurious styled up.
Adventure out!!! At 5.00 pm for the evening game drive along with a Uganda Wildlife Authority Guide who is skillful at finding the intangible Lions and Leopards, also Elephants, Giraffe, Buffaloes, an abundance of birds, along the Lake Albert track, during the ride you can spot the rare Shoebill Stork, and other lovey songbirds. Various kinds of antelopes, mongoose, monitor lizard, hyenas, and again birds. Uganda is gifted with 1008 species of birds which aren’t found elsewhere in the world in such big numbers.
Return for dinner at the Lodge; enjoy a four course dinner at the veranda and a restful evening. Retire for the night.
Make the most of the morning by setting off for the early morning game drive at 6.00am if you never got the chance of seeing the lions and leopards the previous day during the evening game drive, but if you had a chance of seeing them then you will go for the game drive at 7.00am after breakfast. For the area is home to many lions as well as other cat family, elephants, giraffes, antelopes, kobs, bush backs, impalas and other wildlife.
Optimise every opportunity you see something eye catching ask the driver to stop or slow down so that you can stand up and take pictures. You will be going along different game tracks and see various animals along the way. Return to the lodge for your breakfast at around 9.30 am, if you left at 6.00am for the morning drive and you had missed seeing the cat family the previous day, relax and wait for your lunch meal at the Lodge.
After lunch at 2.30pm, embark on a three hour boat/launch cruise to the base of the falls. It’s one of the highlights of the trip as you travel by boat up the Nile. It is usually on a double decker boat, sit on the left side or stand on the upper deck on the left in order to see the maximum number of animals, cruise past huge hippo pods, crocodiles, elephants, bathing buffaloes, sometimes lions and numerous aquatic birds adorning the north bank on the way to the mighty waterfalls, you will enjoy the bird watching as well.
Approach the falls and have some great shots, the water with churn white from the debris that has been mulched by the power of the falls. Note the river bank filled with crocodiles.
Get off at Paraa where your driver will be waiting to take you to your lodge. Enjoy your evening dinner and rest.
After breakfast, check out of the Lodge and then go to the “Top of the Falls” it’s the most dramatic view of the waterfall where the sight and sound of the Nile rushing through a 6meter wide chasm make an unforgettable
Memory. Take shots of the powerful waterfalls and delight in the adventurous experience while at the falls.
Proceed with your return journey and stop for lunch at Kabalenga Restaurant then after go to the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary. At the sanctuary you will watch the unique behavior and movements of the Rhinos, if time allows you will go for a guided nature walk within the sanctuary this takes only 1 and a half hour. The tracking is done on foot so covered shoes is a must wear.
Leave for Kampala and retire at your hotel premises and prepare to catch your flight back home.
