Mbarara is located in the western region of Uganda. It’s the municipal, administrative and commercial city of Mbarara district. It’s known as the“ land of milk’’.
It’s located 270 Kilometers south west of Kampala.
GROWTH AND EXPANSION:
Mbarara city grew as an expanse from the development of Masaka, Jinja, Gulu, Entebbe and Jinja.
Modern developments started in 2000 when many modern infrastructures were set up modern hospitals, arcades, plazas, hotels, schools etc.
ADMINISTRATIVE AND EDUCATION FACILITIES:
- Offices of Mbarara City Council, Headquarters of Mbarara District Administration.
- Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, Mayanja Memorial Hospital, Mbarara Community Hospital, Ruharo Regional Hospital, Holy Innocents Children hospital.
- Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Uganda Bible Institute, Mbarara Campus of Uganda Martyrs University, Western Campus of Uganda Management Institute, Bishop Stuart University several secondary and primary schools.
TOURISM AND TRAVEL:
Mbarara Airport a public airport located 10 Kilometers by road north west of the City along Mbarara-Ibanda highway. There is also a Mbarara Bypass Road. L.Mburo National Park is just a few Kilometers to Mbarara City, Igongo Cultural Centre there are multitude of infrastructures to be used by tourist as attractions as facilities, Museums, Banks, Hotels, Recreational centers.
