Kidepo National Park is the most remote and isolated park in Uganda, it has an open tree savanna landscape which extends in all directions outlined by distant mountain ranges. It’s located in the north eastern corner of the Country with a gazetted area of 1,442 Square Kilometers. The Park is quite far with a distance of 700km from Kampala therefore air transport can be organized. The park has a semi –arid climate with just one rainy season and the rainfall is light.

    Itinerary

    Day 1Travel to Kitgum for an Overnight.

    Rise up early after having your breakfast and set off from your hotel premises with your professional driver guide at 7.00am.
    Use the Kampala Bombo road, and proceed to the north-eastern corner of the Country. You will see various kinds of fascinating sceneries along the way.You will be able to see the varying shades of the vegetation and appreciate the seasons of Uganda that part of the country is dry, and you will see the grass thatched huts of the locals in the northern part of the country.

    You will stopover for lunch in Gulu town. The park is quite far therefore you will retire for the night in Kitgum in (Boma hotel) and proceed to the park the next day. The Park contains the most exciting faunas compared to other Ugandan National Park, it has abundant 77 species of mammals, this is the only park which has both giraffes and zebras together, hyenas, buffalos, antelopes, cheetahs, elephants, lionsand 463 confirmed bird species and 26 unconfirmed species eg.Ostrich, Carmine, Secretary bird it’s also notable for its birds of prey Egyptian vulture, Pygmy falcon, Verreaux’s eagle the list is endless.

    Day 2Proceed to the Park

    After breakfast you will embark on your journey to the park. Check in Apoka Safarilodge, have your lunch and rest from the long journey in the lovely and spacious rooms withtheirlocally handmade décor by traditional craftsmen, with natural canvas walls surround a rocky kopje with endless views across the savannah. The lodge is uniquely designed with inside sitting rooms and private verandas there is plenty of room to relax, read and sprawl.

    Adventure out!!! For the evening game drive and enjoy the beautiful sceneries, the lovely sparse of the scattered trees spotted with the rich fauna in their magnificent peaceful herds and flocks.
    Retire for the night and dinner in Apoka Lodge.

    Day 3Game drive and Travel to Gulu

    Rise up earlyfor the morning game drive to see the lions before they get out of their hide outs in search for prey ,appreciate the gorgeous rugged and impressive landscape and its rich diversity of the wild. Set off from the park with your packed lunch and retire for the night in Gulu in Church hill hotel.

    Day 4 Return to Kampala.

    Check out of the hotel after having your breakfast for your return journey to Kampala. You will have a lavish lunch in Kampala city, retire to your hotel premises or depart for the airport for your flight back home.
