Lake .Mburo is Uganda ‘s smallest savannah national park and the nearest park from Kampala City, it encompasses 370square kilometers.L.Mburo forms part of a 50 km long wetland system linked by a swamp and 13 other lakes in the area, 5 of which are enclosed within the borders of the Park. The park contains much woodland and scattered savannah with rocky ridges and forested gorges in the western side.
It’s only a 4 hour drive, making it a one day safari. It lies in a rain shadow which explains its unique and extensive wetlands making it a home to several species of mammals and 350 birds species which are found nowhere in Uganda.

3 Hours Before Flight Time
You will start off your trip very early in the morning from your hotel premises with your driver guide at 7.00am. And head off to the busy Masaka road with lots of exciting things along way, don’t be amazed by the heavy traffic jam as you drive through.
Masaka road is too busy full of road side sellers, who will crowd yourvehicle in case you make a stopover selling lots of food stuffs for travellers such as roasted maize, plantain, grilled chicken thighs, meat etc. As you proceed towards the west, the roads are endowed with green vegetation on either side; there are mini forests around Mpigi areas all the way through.
Stop at the Equator for a few minutes to have the feel and take a few photo shots for memories. With a monument on both sides that read “Uganda Equator”. The Equator premises have been styled with various souvenirs shops with lots of crafts, T-shirts, African wear etc.
Proceed to the Mburo National Park, which is richly gifted by God, it has an open Savanna and acacia woodland, permanent swamps and open water as you will see the wealth of wildlife.The moment you enter the park, you will have begun the Game drive, were you will enjoy seeing the rare species of wild game, large herds of Impalas as they move gracefully with their beautiful colours of a reddish/brown coat , Zebras with their White and black stripes plus the elands that aren’t found anywhere in Uganda.
After lunch, embark on a Boat ride along the shores of L.Mburo the cruise will take you close to the big water animals, the Hippo ,Crocodiles, Buffalos and the birders will treasure and love each moment they get to watch the beautiful array of bird species along the waters.
Depart for Kampala in the evening at about 4.30pm, after the boat. Visiting Lake Mburo National Park is such an affordable adventure, which one shouldn’t miss once given an opportunity to visit Uganda.
