Jinja is the second largest city in Uganda. It’s the second busiest commercial center in the country after Kampala and was established in 1907.It`s located in the Southeastern Uganda east of Kampala, it’s on the shores of Lake Victoria, near the source of the Nile. Before 1906 Jinja was a fishing village that benefited from being located on the long-distance trade routes.
It has a Coronation Park marked by a garden and a monument honoring the British Explorer John Speke Hannington.
ATTRACTIONS:
• The Source of the Nile, it`s worth a life time visit to experience the feel of seeing the source of the longest River in the world, do the boat ride and see the locals and their entertainment as well as purchasing a few souvenirs from the craft shop around.
• The Owen Falls Dam, coming from Kampala it forms a spectacular gateway to the city, it supplies Uganda with ample electricity.
• Jinja is known for its lots of adventurous, thrilling sports and exciting activities, such as white-water rafting, bungee jumping, jet boating, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, horse riding, motorcycling, quad biking, mountain biking, camping, birding etc.
• Itanda Falls known for White Water Rapids.
