Entebbe sits on the northern shores of Lake Victoria, the largest lake in Africa. Its situated in Wakiso District It was a British colonial administrative and commercial center in 1893 when Sir Gerald Portal, a colonial Commissioner used it as his base. The city is also known as the home of Entebbe International Airport.
Entebbe features a tropical rainforest climate with relatively constant temperatures through the course of the year. Entebbe is relatively cooler and wetter compared to Kampala city.
Entebbe has the Uganda Wildlife Education Center (UWEC), the former Zoo.
It’s the home of the National Botanical Gardens laid out in 1898,
It has the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI).
It’s also the home to the historical site in Kigungu where the catholic missionaries Brother Amans and Father Mon Maple Lourdel landed to establish the catholic Faith in Uganda.
It’s the location of State House, the official residence of the President of Uganda, the International Airport, the headquarters of the Civil Aviation Authority of Uganda, the home of the Oldest Golf course in East Africa called Entebbe Golf Club which was established in 1900.
